VICTORIA - Janice M. Armstrong, 69, of Victoria, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at her residence. She was born on July 25, 1939, in Weber Falls, Okla., to the late Goble and Marie Smith Haney. Janice was the secretary-treasurer of the family owned business, Gulf Coast Casing. She is survived by her husband, Jess Armstrong; son, Jessie E. Armstrong III of Victoria; grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Hayden and Brook DeDear, as well as Jessie Armstrong IV, John, Seth and Kathlyan Armstrong. Janice is also survived by a brother-in-law, John Armstrong, whom she considered her son. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Jo DeDear, and a brother, Olen Haney. Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the King Cemetery near Gonzales. VICTORIA - Pearl Marie Fischer, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, was born on Aug. 1, 1920 and passed away on July 10, 2009. She was the last child born to Frederick Wilhelm and Meta Kuehl Fischer. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William, Karl, Alex, Walter and Otto; three sisters, Selma Waida, Anna Timme, and Edna Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Frances Irene Katzfey of San Antonio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a cosmetologist since the age of 19 and owner of Fischer's University of Beauty Culture in Corpus Christi. After her move to Victoria, she was the owner of Pearl's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Funeral services will be held on 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Miss Fischer's great-nephew, with the Rev. Michael C. OLIVIA - Dorothy Orlena Stuart Moses, 93, of Olivia, passed away 10 July 2009. She was born 1 July 1916 in Tulseta to the late John Stuart and Hattie Day Stuart. She married Richard Alton Moses on the 16th of September 1932 in Eastland. She is survived by her children, Fred Moses and wife Nelva of Baytown, James Moses and wife Francis of Port Lavaca, Janell Miller of Port Lavaca, Sue DeBord and husband Donald of Olivia, Loretta Grumbles and husband Lonnie of Bay City, Earlene Knight and husband Mike of Sun City, Willie Moses and wife Shirley of Yoakum; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Alton Moses; son, Richard Alton Moses Jr.; son, Glen Dale Moses; and grandson, Wayne Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday 12 July 2009 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. VICTORIA - Surrounded by her loving family, Ruby K. Strickland crossed the River Jordan and joined her husband and son and a host of many others before her to begin her long awaited eternal life with Jesus. Ruby enjoyed life and everyone in it. She clearly loved her church. She will be greatly missed by her children, David Strickland, Marjorie Phillips and Margaret Rader and her husband, Larry, all of Victoria; a brother, Marvin L. Kerr of Carney, Okla.; and a sister, Norma Jean Magouirk of San Benito. She was proud of her grandchildren, James "Jimmy" Davis, David Davis and his wife, Brandy; four great-grandchildren, Ariel, Danielle, Lesley and Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Flora Kerr; husband, O.A. "Bud" Strickland; son, Richard; and sisters, Opal Peroni, Ethel McGhee, Ella Maston, and Dorothy Gray.
