GUADALUPE POMPA

  GOLIAD - Guadalupe "Wally" "Gator" Pompa, 56, of Goliad, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009. He was born Aug. 14, 1952, in Goliad, to the late Juanita S. Pompa.
  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Goliad. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Ralph Baidoo officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.
  Mr. Pompa is survived by his father Reyes L. Rubio Sr.; wife, Glenda Pompa; sons, Guadalupe Pompa Jr., Carlos Pompa, Tyler Goynes, and Austin Goynes; daughters, Valerie Pompa and Amber Goynes; brothers, Endalacio "Andy" Pompa, Frankie Pompa Rubio, and Reyes Pompa Rubio Jr.; sisters, Juanita Pompa Salas, Patricia Ann Ender, Mary Elizabeth Longoria, Josephine Jacobs, and Christine Rubio; and grandchildren, Lauren, Carlos III and Raymond Lamar Ortiz and Jacob Matthew Pompa.
  He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita S. Pompa; son, Lamar Flores Pompa; and a sister, Martha Pompa Rubio.
  Pallbearers are Refugio Almaguer, Jesse Cortinas, Daniel Decker, Alfred Ortiz Sr., Johnny Peuttus, and Victor Ybarbo.
  Honorary pallbearers are Isreal "Issy" Baldez, Ruben Baldez Jr., Ruben Cantu, Cleto Cortinas, Robert Cortinas, Paul "Tuddie" Garcia, L.G. Garcia, Fred Martinez, Leo Martinez, Carlos Ortiz Sr., Bobbie Rubio Sr., Juan Soto, Jesse Tijerina, Lonnie Ybarbo, Mario Ybarbo, Carlos Zuniga, all members of the Carrera family, late Dan Garza, the late "Big Mike" Pereida, and the late Dionicio "Nicho" Perez Sr.
  In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to defray funeral expenses.
